We've increased the number of permanent working terminals in the room to 7, with the addition of 2 extra PCs and a Mac. These, in conjunction to the existing PC, 2 SparcStations and VT, should allow everyone to log on, even at the busiest lunctimes. And don't forget that you can still bring your laptop down and plug it in to our network.
One of the new PCs will be a dedicated retro games machine. This is mainly because it's too crap to actually do much else (although it can just about manage ssh too). The other PC will run Windows 2000, as it's handy to have for testing cross platformness (also games!). Kudos to DUCSS who borrowed this to us. Incidently, we call this machine 'decker', as it's the enemy. Ahem. The Mac is running MacOS 9, and is mostly there to amuse Mal. Oh, and it's hooked up to an old laserprinter that we also found in that skip. Also, thanks to Gerard for looking after 'face', which was put to good use by installing Solaris on it.
So, it's getting a bit tight for space in there; almost reaching capacity - we can't actually fit anymore chairs in there! Once we move the vt over to the coffee table (*ahem* conall *ahem*), there'll be loads of room.
Finally, if you're interested, I've knocked up a network infrastructure schematic.
