Netris Tournaments!

Monday 22 October 2007

The ever-prevalent Netris tournaments begin! The first Netris
tournament will be on next Thursday. If you’ve never played before, don’t
worry: it’s just like Tetris, only more Netsoc…er.
Wander over to the support wiki
to find out how to start playing. And remember, it’s important to practise:
beating netsoc council members will make them cry.

Now that you’ve all rushed off and (re)joined, what better to do with the
shiney new membership other than wave your card at people to impress them?
If you can’t answer that question, come down to the arts block labs this
Wednesday and learn! We’ll teach you how to create your own website for
blogging, sharing your photos and whatever else you like.

  • Date: Wednesday, 17th October
  • Time: 7-9pm
  • Place: Samuel Beckett Lab A, Arts Block

Welcome to 2007/2008

Monday 1 October 2007

Welcome to Freshers week, and welcome to Netsoc for 2007/2008. We’ve
been really busy over the summer organising events and new services.
Lets get started.

  • Netsoc news is now availible as an RSS feed so you can keep
notified about upcoming events. To add this to your
    MyZone page, see
    this page.
  • We’ve set up a website for sharing notes from your courses
and getting help. We call it
    resources and it isn’t
just for Netsoc members, to be the most use to anyone. To get started,
    request an account here
  • We’re setting up a community
internet radio station in a very
cool way. Unfortunately, there is a bit of legal trouble at the moment,
but we should be ready to go in the next two weeks.
  • We have setup webchat
for people inside college, and it goes well with our
    quotes database
  • Planning a trip to the cinema? See all the showings for all the
    dublin cinemas at cinema.netsoc
in one handy, page without any ads.
  • Have a group project? We have a website to make doing this easy.
It doesn’t have to be a group project, or even a tech-related project.
It’ll help with any essays or presentations you might have to do. You
    can request a project here
  • We now publish scorefiles for our two most popular games, netris
and nethack on our games website
now you can gloat over who is the best adventurer or block destroyer and
    overall increase your internet-fame
  • Just want your shell account and website as quick as possible?
