I was one of the lucky students sponsored by Google's Summer of Code scheme last summer.
I worked on Blender, specifically the conversion of a custom NURBS application 'Nurbana', donated to the Blender Foundation by the author, into a library. I am currently adopting Blender's existing NURBS functionality over to this new library, although this is proving to be slow due to my complete absence of free time.
