Factorials Applet - By Joseph O'Donovan
How to use this applet: The applet will work out nearly any calculation entered but is best working out realistic values such as 42 choose 6 played twice. smaller values would represent a too large chance of winning and cant be graphed accuratelyNotes on the maths used in the applet:The maths consists nearly entirly of factorials. The probability is worked out from each given set using them. The factorial n is the calculated from overall set of numbers available to be choosen, i.e in the case of the Irish lottery this would be 42.This is divied by factorial r which is calculated from the maximum amount of numbers one can choose, this would be 6 in the case of the irish lottery. r is multiplied by n-r factorial. This returns the amount of different ways the given subset can be choosen from the larger set. This is simply divided by one. and scaled back up to size so the smaller numbers can be represented on a graph.
