Playing Cards In Probability - By Helen Harney

How to use this applet:

To use the applet simply follow the instructions on the screen. Enter whether or not you want to find the probability of one or two cards. Enter the card you wish to find the probability of. The answers are then displayed on the screen. The user can then return to the first page and enter a different problem.

Notes on the maths used in the applet:

The maths is simply explained. If a rank is picked, probability = 1/13 If a colour is picked, probability = 1/2 If a suit is picked, probability = 1/4 If rank and suit is picked, probability = 1/52 If rank and colour is picked, probability = 1/26 If colour and suit is picked, probability = 1/4 If two cards are picked, probability of A and probability of B = P(A)*P(B) If card is NOT returned to the pack , probability of A and probability of B = P(A)*P(x/51)
