[ My Thoughts About Micro$oft ]

Did you know that all Microsoft employees are required to send Bill Gates
a christmas card each year, as part of their contract? Did you know that if
the letters in Bill Gates' name were roman numerals, they'd add up to 666?
Did you know that Yahoo has an entire section dedicated to Microsoft Hate
pages? Yeah... anyway... I think that all the 'Microsoft sucks'
propaganda that is so 'cool' among the computer literate is total bunk.
Heresy? Let me explain. I'll be the first to agree that Microsoft
Windows95/WIndowsNT isn't very stable, doesn't always do things that make
sense to the computer literate user, often is bloated and slow, and tends to
piss me off regularly. But Microsoft's corporate statement has always been
"a computer on every desk running our software." That means a computer on
the desk of your 80 year old grandmother, a computer on the desk of your 10
year old brother, and computers on the desks of thousands of government
workers throughout the United States. Can you really expect ol' granny to
download and install the latest versin of Linux? Of course not. Microsoft
makes computers accessible to those who would are too stupid or don't care
enough to learn the guts of computers, and that is a good thing. Because of
it's megalithic popularity, it has standardized the industry in many ways,
and generally makes everything I do easier. Thanks Bill.
