Server upgrades

Posted by:Netsoc Posted on:Nov 28,2011

On Thursday the 8th of December at 15:00, spoon will be going down for a few hours for much-needed software upgrades. Please ensure that you have saved your work and backed up any important files you might have before then.

While spoon is down, we are going to make cube our main login server. This means that domain names netsoc.tcd.ie, login.netsoc.tcd.ie and netsoc.ie will all be pointed at cube instead of spoon.

Arising from this, the RSA fingerprints for these hosts will change, and the next time you log in you are likely to see a nasty message warning you about their remote host identification changing. You can remove the old fingerprints by running:

ssh-keygen -R login.netsoc.tcd.ie
ssh-keygen -R netsoc.tcd.ie
ssh-keygen -R netsoc.ie

Of course, after the changeover you will still be able to log into spoon as usual by sshing to spoon.netsoc.tcd.ie.
