Cube is back

Hi everybody,

Cube is back up and running after one of its drives decided to give up working. Currently the user home directories are effectively running on one disk, so if that disk were to die then all the data would be gone. Now would be a good time to backup your data on cube. We’re in the process of getting a replacement drive and once we do will will be shutting cube down to install it. We’ll have more information about when this downtime will be, but it should be around the end of this week or the beginning of the next.

The disk that died was the last of the original hard disks that came with cube, so we’re hoping that the replacements will be able to last for a good few years before they start giving out. This also means that cube will (hopefully!) be somewhat more stable once the new disk is put in.
